Northern Industries Group Appoints Paul Sweeting as CEO to Drive UK Steel Manufacturing Growth

Northern Industries Group, a rapidly scaling group of UK manufacturing businesses, today announced a significant strategic appointment with Paul Sweeting stepping into the role of Chief Executive Officer. This move signals a renewed focus on expanding the group's footprint, building high-performing teams and championing the future of British Steel manufacturing.
Paul Sweeting, a seasoned leader and investor, brings a wealth of experience and a clear vision for growth to Northern Industries Group. He is a passionate champion of UK manufacturing and has a strong track record of building teams that deliver exceptional results.
"I am incredibly excited to take on the CEO role at Northern Industries Group," states Sweeting. "Our existing businesses – Steelway, Brickhouse, Fensecure, Protect, JHT Engineering, and CEL Sheetmetal – are already delivering exceptional quality and innovation. My passion lies in nurturing these businesses, fostering a collaborative environment and actively seeking out new opportunities to expand our group."

Northern Industries Group is on an ambitious growth trajectory, actively looking for more high-potential manufacturing businesses to join its diverse portfolio. Under Paul's leadership, the group will continue to focus on:
- Strategic Acquisition: Identifying and integrating new manufacturing businesses that align with the group's vision and values.
- Operational Excellence: Driving efficiency and innovation across all six business units, leveraging shared expertise and best practices.
- Talent Development: Investing in people, fostering strong teams, and creating a supportive environment where employees can thrive.
- Championing UK Manufacturing: Advocating for and demonstrating the strength, resilience, and quality of British manufacturing on a national and international stage.
- Sustainability: Some stuff here.
"What truly excites me is the opportunity to build a powerful collective of UK manufacturing excellence," Sweeting explains. "Each of our businesses brings unique strengths and by working together, we can achieve even greater things. We're not just growing a group; we're building a legacy for UK manufacturing."
Northern Industries Group currently employs over 350 staff across the Nation, compromising of:
- Steelway: Access Metalwork - Wolverhampton
- Brickhouse: Access Cover – West Bromwich
- Fensecure: Multi Use Games Ares, Fencing & Heritage – West Bromwich
- Protect: Security & Defence - Newcastle
- JHT Engineering: Our Northern support business for all of the above - Newcastle
- CEL Sheetmetal: High speed laser cutting to full fabrications - Telford

Paul's leadership will empower these businesses to reach their full potential, encouraging cross-pollination of ideas and resources to drive collective success.
Paul added ‘‘My journey with Northern Industries Group over the past five years has been incredibly rewarding. I've had the privilege of deeply investing in new project ranges, stepping in as Managing Director of Steelway during a crucial leadership search and most recently, overseeing our operations and finance as C.O.O.
Now, with an exceptional and strong senior leadership team firmly in place across the group, I'm thrilled to transition my focus entirely to group-level strategy, future investment and actively seeking out new, exciting businesses to bring into the Northern Industries family and drive our continued growth.
Investing in the Future
Paul's role as an investor extends beyond capital; it encompasses a deep commitment to nurturing the long-term success of each business within the group. He believes in strategic, sustained investment in technology, processes and most importantly, people.
"Our goal is to be a true powerhouse in UK manufacturing, providing skilled jobs, investing in apprenticeships and setting a new benchmark for excellence within the industry and the communities we serve," Sweeting concludes.
If you own a manufacturing business, or know of one that aligns with our vision and could thrive as part of the Northern Industries Group, I'd be delighted to hear from you. Our commitment to the future of UK manufacturing starts today, and we're actively seeking new partnerships to fuel our ambitious growth.
