2 Million Pound Scheme to Upgrade Water Facility

A £2M scheme to upgrade electrical and mechanical equipment on the water facility involved the design, manufacture, supply and installation of a large kiosk 8m x 3m x 3m, and a large raised platform.
The requirement was for the provision and installation of a fabricated mild steel kiosk, comprising four walls and a removable roof, along with a raised platform for the kiosk. The platform was to feature an access staircase and the handrail on two short ends and was to be designed and installed to accommodate the kiosk, with a landing height of 2300mm above FFL and was to be delivered pre-built for lifting into position on site, onto the platform.
The kiosk specification also stipulated the inclusion of ventilation panels with insect mesh, a lockable 'Cat-Flap' access panel for the generator cable, 18mm marine ply lining plus insulation to internal faces, and a final finish of two-pack paint for the kiosk. The platform, staircase, and flooring were to be post-galvanized to BS EN ISO 1461 and the kiosk was to feature a one-off double access door to one end and a one-off single access door to the opposite end, both of which were LPCB approved door sets.

The Solution
Steelway provided the client with full drawings for approval, a program of works, and full RAMS for installation. Managing the simultaneous design and manufacture /build process of all aspects of the project resulting in the completion of steel work in 3 to 4 weeks from approval of designs. Site installation went ahead 6 weeks after drawing approval for platform and kiosk.
The project necessitated careful coordination of the design, build, and project management of two main aspects to ensure timely installation. The kiosk and the platform were constructed under ISO quality management procedures at Steelway's factory, with the kiosk featuring fit-out, fixtures, and paint finish, and the platform featuring all hand railing, access stairs, durbar and open mesh areas. Structural calculations were also provided to prove loadings and fixing points.
The scheduling, equipment, and delivery were meticulously planned to ensure a smooth build process, encompassing the transportation, lifting, pre planning and installation of the kiosk and of the Steelway Prebuilt galvanized platform.
Products that were Supplied and Installed
- Modular build Kiosk 8000mm (wide) x 3000mm (deep) x3000(h)
- Platform 2300mm above ground level to suit the kiosk
